Meledandri revealed that Illumination Studios Paris, the team behind the first movie, is already hard at work storyboarding the sequel. The movie will once again be directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with animation set to commence soon. In addition to the announcement of the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel, Nintendo has also revealed plans for a live-action Legend of Zelda film. Wes Ball, known for directing the Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will be at the helm of the project. Additionally, on March 12th, the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy collection will be expanded to include Dr. Mario, offering players a nostalgic gaming experience on their modern consoles.
