In an unexpected twist, the upcoming Superman reboot is set to include a cameo from Will Reeve, son of the late Christopher Reeve, who famously portrayed the superhero in the 1978 film. Despite Christopher Reeve’s passing in 2004, director James Gunn has decided to pay homage to the legendary actor by casting his son in a brief role in the new movie.
Family Tradition
Will Reeve, who currently works as a reporter for ABC, will be portraying a TV reporter in the film. In a clip released by Cleveland.com, Reeve can be seen filming a report on the streets of Metropolis alongside other extras. The scene reportedly involves the characters reacting to the arrival of another mysterious superhero, although the identity of this hero has not been revealed.
Over the years, the Superman franchise has maintained a tradition of including cameos from former actors associated with the iconic character. Christopher Reeve’s predecessors, Kirk Alyn and Noel Neill, made appearances in the 1978 movie as Lois Lane’s parents. Christopher Reeve himself continued this tradition by making guest appearances as Dr. Virgil Swann on the TV show Smallville, starring Tom Welling as a young Clark Kent.
The upcoming documentary, “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” is set to be released with the approval and support of Will Reeve and the rest of the Reeve family. This film provides an intimate look at the life and legacy of Christopher Reeve and promises to touch the hearts of fans worldwide. It will have a limited theatrical release on September 21st.
