The Rimac Nevera, already known for its absurdly quick acceleration, has been upgraded to the Nevera R, which promises even faster speeds. With the ability to reach 60mph from a standstill in just 1.74 seconds, the Nevera R is a tenth of a second quicker than its predecessor. The electric supercar now boasts an impressive 2,107 horsepower, an increase of 200 horsepower from the original version.
Improved Features
In addition to its enhanced power output, the Nevera R comes with better aerodynamics, increased downforce, and improved grip. These upgrades contribute to a performance boost on the Nardo Ring, a high-speed track in Italy owned by Porsche. The Nevera R managed to shave off 3.8 seconds from the original Nevera’s lap time at this challenging circuit.
Like its predecessor, the Nevera R requires “manufacturer oversight” to unlock its maximum speed of 256mph. Without this supervision, the car is restricted to a top speed of 217mph. According to reports from MotorTrend, Rimac anticipates that the Nevera R’s 108kWh battery will provide approximately 250 miles of range under the European WLTP cycle, although official certification is still pending.
Despite the impressive performance of the Nevera R, Rimac suggests that potential buyers may have a better chance of experiencing their upcoming Croatian robotaxis rather than owning a Nevera R. This hints at the company’s vision for the future of transportation, where autonomous electric vehicles play a central role in urban mobility.
The Rimac Nevera R represents a significant advancement in electric supercar technology, with enhanced performance capabilities and improved features compared to its predecessor. As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards electrification and automation, vehicles like the Nevera R showcase the cutting-edge innovations that are shaping the future of transportation. With its lightning-fast acceleration, impressive power output, and sleek design, the Nevera R sets a new standard for performance electric vehicles and hints at the exciting developments yet to come in the world of high-performance EVs.
