Upon arriving in the Checkpoint Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2, players are immediately faced with a tough decision – should they assist Offulve or Everard in their search for the elusive Jadeite Orb? Offulve will approach you first if he is nearby, while Everard will also initiate the quest if Offulve is not present. Both characters plead their case for why you should help them, but the choice ultimately falls on the player.
The Jadeite Orb is not a difficult item to acquire in the game. Players only need to speak to a criminal in Vernworth gaol, who will direct them to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in the same town. Ibrahim conveniently sells the Jadeite Orb for 7,500 gold, with the option to also purchase a fake copy for an additional 2,000 gold. This decision will have repercussions later on in the quest.
To maximize rewards and profits, players must decide who to give the real Jadeite Orb and the forgery to. Giving the fake Orb to Offulve will result in a more lucrative outcome, earning the player an Elite Camping Kit, 3,000 gold, and 1,000 XP. However, giving the real Orb to Everard will yield 12,000 gold and a Ring of Skulduggery, which increases damage when attacking from behind. Players must weigh their options and decide whether to prioritize financial gain or loyalty to a specific character.
One of the key aspects of this quest is the lack of a morality system in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Players are not judged for their decisions, and there are no long-term consequences to consider. While this may provide a sense of freedom, it also raises questions about the ethical implications of the player’s actions. Is it justified to deceive one character for personal gain, or should loyalty and honesty be prioritized?
While in the Checkpoint Rest Town, players should also be aware of other quests available, such as the Prey for the Pack quest and the Saint of the Slums quest back in Vernworth. These side missions offer additional opportunities for exploration and reward, further enriching the gameplay experience in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
The Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 presents players with a challenging moral dilemma. By making strategic decisions and considering the consequences of their actions, players can navigate the intricate web of relationships and conflicts within the game world. Ultimately, the choice between Offulve and Everard may not have a clear right or wrong answer, but it serves as a thought-provoking reflection on the complexities of human nature and decision-making.
