Final Fantasy 16 is set to release its final DLC, The Rising Tide, on April 18th for PS5. This add-on content will take players on a new adventure before the conclusion of the main game, introducing new challenges, characters, and locations for players to explore.
The Rising Tide DLC begins with an unmarked letter arriving at Clive’s hideaway, alerting him and his companions to the presence of the Dominant of Leviathan, the long-lost Eikon of Water, in need of rescue. This mission leads players to Mysidia, a hidden land beneath a blue sky, where they will unravel the tragic history of a forgotten people. Within Mysidia, players will find new side quests that delve into the region’s lore and its inhabitants, along with new threats to face.
One of the new challenges players will encounter in The Rising Tide DLC is a revamped version of tonberries, a classic enemy from the Final Fantasy series. These menacing creatures can be found in the Aire of Hours, a once-thriving city now in ruins, echoing with the eerie sound of blades being sharpened. As players navigate this dangerous environment, they must be prepared to face off against these new foes.
The Rising Tide DLC introduces gameplay enhancements for players, including new abilities for Clive related to the Eikon of Water. Players will be able to raise the level cap to 60 in Story Focused Mode and Action Focused Mode, and up to level 110 in Final Fantasy Mode (New Game+). Clive’s new water-based abilities allow him to unleash powerful attacks utilizing the sea tides, drowning enemies both up close and from a distance. Additionally, the Serpent’s Cry Eikonic Feat summons a sea-spitting serpent that delivers precise strikes to enemies at great distances.
After completing The Rising Tide DLC and the main game, players will unlock Kairos Gate, a survival mode featuring 20 challenging wave-based stages set in the underworld. By conquering these stages, players can earn valuable loot such as new materials and weapons. The mode also includes a global leaderboard, allowing players to compete and showcase their skills as a Bearer in the world of Final Fantasy 16.
