MultiVersus fans have something to get excited about as the official MultiVersus Twitter/X account has sprung back to life after an eight-month break. With a cryptic post that read “*taps mic* testing, testing, 1, 2, 3,” fans are eagerly anticipating a big announcement on the horizon. While this teaser is the only breadcrumb we have received so far, there are signs pointing towards the return of MultiVersus in the near future.
In a surprising turn of events, a collaboration between MultiVersus and McDonald’s Australia was announced in late February 2024. Although the details of this partnership were scarce, the “coming soon” label on the McDonald’s website hinted at a possible revival of MultiVersus. With the sudden activity on the MultiVersus Twitter/X account and the upcoming Happy Meal collaboration, it is safe to assume that plans for MultiVersus’ return are in motion, possibly as early as March 2024.
The social media tease posted on Tuesday has already sparked interest among fans, with 21,000 likes, 6,500 retweets, and 1.6 million impressions creating a buzz around the returning game. MultiVersus had a successful launch in beta form, garnering over 20 million downloads and reaching concurrent player peaks of over 140,000. However, the game struggled to maintain its momentum in the second season due to player disengagement from its reward system.
The Road to Redemption
Following the beta period, MultiVersus was abruptly shut down, leaving players locked out for eight months. As the game gears up for its grand return, the question remains whether Player First Games can win back its hundred-thousand concurrent players. Despite the challenges ahead, it is evident that the anticipation for the game’s return is palpable among the community. Fans are eagerly awaiting more news in the coming days and weeks, hoping for a triumphant comeback for MultiVersus.
